Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS)is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. Starting from a humble 20 schools in 1963, KVS today has more than 1000 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) spread over the length and breadth of this country and one KV each at Kathmandu, Moscow and Tehran. The number of students on the rolls of KVS is more than one million and the number of staff (both teaching and non-teaching) is around 50,000.
KVS has always realized the importance of regular training for all its staff. There are five Zonal Institutes of Education and Training catering to the training needs of 25 regions.
ZIET Bhubaneswar started functioning from April 2012 and is the latest ZIET. The other four ZIETs are situated at Mumbai, Chandigarh, Gwalior and ZIET Bhubaneswar started functioning from April 2012 and is the latest ZIET. The other four ZIETs are situated at Mumbai, Chandigarh, Gwalior and Mysore. Each ZIET is headed by a Director who is of the rank of Deputy Commissioner. A team of teachers and office staff assist in imparting training to KVS staff. Other organizations are also roped in for specialized training such as for Physical and Health education, Yoga etc. All the five ZIETs are dedicated to organizing training workshops as well as in-service courses for teachers as well as staff and officers of the KVS.
Our mission is to empower the staff to equip themselves to play a proactive role in the growth and development of the students including that of enhancing academic achievement of students.
To design suitable training programmes and chalk out a calendar of training activities with the approval of KVS Headquarters
To conduct the approved / assigned training programmes utilizing in house as well as other resources and talents
To prepare necessary support materials for the effective conduct of various training programmes and
To document and disseminate the outcomes of the various training activities
